Doon Convent Senior Secondary School,established in 1994, is a co-educational, English medium day school located in the serene surroundings of Haldwani, at the foothills of Nainital. Affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi, the school offers a rich learning experience from Nursery to Class 12.

Nestled amid lush green agricultural fields with the majestic hills as a backdrop, our campus provides an environment that is both peaceful and inspiring—an ideal setting for joyful, focused learning.

School Philosophy

We always teach children how to make butterflies. They are colorful and always a visual treat. A fancy dress competition is more likely to have a child dressed as a butterfly. Nobody ever talks about MOTHS. Somehow these pesky, hairy, dull winged creatures are always ignored. Haldwani is famous for being a haven for Moths. We have often felt that the children of our school are like Moths. We neglect the Moths and forget the myriad of colors, shapes, intelligence they have in store to display.

We in Doon Convent School want to change that and make our children realize their true potential of being a Moth. Be it in the colors, structure, shape, flight etc. It’s a matter of realization about the true potential of being a Moth. How do you distinguish between a moth and a butterfly? Even taxonomists argue over how to categorize between a Moth and Butterfly since there are many exceptions. Yet we all can easily distinguish. Butterflies are colourful and beautiful. Moths are mostly ugly and hairy. We at Doon Convent School want to break this barrier.

One of the primary objectives of school education is to make a child fearless

One of the primary objectives of school education is to make a child fearless – Children are plagued with various fear such as fear of failure, stage, exams, mathematics, science etc. The school should provide ample opportunities to children to know their fears and more importantly equip them with adaptive tools to overcome them. At DCS our constant endeavour is to find impressionable ways through which children can independently overcome their shortcomings. Be it inside the classroom or outside, every student should walk out of the institution with the ability to challenge the unknown. To achieve this, we at Doon Convent School try and provide students exposure to varied real life situations early on. Be it through year round inter-school competitions both at scholastic/co-scholastic level, aptitude exams both in-house and external, educational excursions, field visits, community sensitization programmes, cultural exchange programmes, etc. This enables them to realize their true potential which we believe cannot be judged through a standardized one time aptitude test. Through these efforts, we aim to ensure that the students are not merely just data banks but learners who have mastered the art of self belief and realization. After all, many schools can boast about how many of their students made it to top notch engineering/medical/law/IAS etc institutions. We want our students to become entrepreneurs who have overcome their fears and are ready to take the risks and feed more people than just themselves. Our nation needs more fearless leaders.

Principal’s Message

As we all know, education is not just about imparting knowledge, but also about developing good citizens who can make a positive contribution to society. Our goal is to ensure that our students are not only well-educated but also become good citizens who can make a positive impact in the world.

At our school, we follow the principles of the National Education Policy 2020, which emphasizes empowering students and developing their creativity, ambition, and moral values. Our aim is to provide our students with a well-rounded education that prepares them for success in all aspects of life.

We are proud of our students and are confident that they will make a significant contribution to our country's future. We have established an Atal Tinkering Lab in our school, which provides our students with a platform to develop their innovative skills.We strive to provide equal opportunities for education to all students, regardless of their background or socio-economic status.We also promote the mental and spiritual well-being of our students through meditation, yoga, and sports. Our entire teaching staff and school administration work with dedication and commitment, recognizing education as a service rather than a business.

I am confident that with the support and cooperation of all stakeholders, we will continue to produce capable and sensitive citizens who will make a positive impact in society.
